Job description
◆Responsibilities
Number Nine is a manga startup that has been bringing a new wind to the manga industry since its founding in 2016.
Number Nine, a digital distribution service that converts manga artists' works, both commercial and doujin, into digital comics and distributes them to more than 100 e-book stores in Japan, began its service in 2018. It has now grown to the point where it has more than 3,700 registered artists and more than 10,000 manga books, and has returned more than 700 million yen in royalties to manga artists.
The Manga Artist Future Conference, a talk event for manga artists that gives a glimpse into the thoughts of manga artists surviving the turbulent manga industry, started during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Manga artists from various genres who have broken down the barriers between publishers, such as Yuki Suetsugu of "Chihayafuru," George Morikawa of "Hajime no Ippo," Yusuke Murata of "One Punch Man," and Tetsuya Chiba of "Ashita no Joe," participate as speakers, and more than 1,000 people listen to their lectures every year.
The company also entered the WEBTOON (vertical reading full-color manga) market, which has been gradually gaining popularity since around 2021, at an early stage. As of 2024, the company's production of "Shinketsu no Savior ~0.00000001% to Win and Become the Strongest~" (serialized on LINE Manga) is the number one hit in domestic WEBTOON (male category).
The role of the graphic designer is to take on the design to liven up the company's unique events and the cover design, which can be said to be the face of the work, as a team.
・Logo design for services
・Official website and LP design
・Manga cover/logo design
・Banner design
・Novelty goods design
・Event logo design
・Manga goods design
・Document design
...etc.
*The above are just some examples
◆What to expect
Even with a logo design, the motivation of project members increases when a good one is created. Please create a design with your own hands that will make not only the manga artists who work with Number Nine proud of the company, but also the working members.
◆Rewarding work
Gain experience under a skilled senior designer.
Currently, we have one full-time designer, but there is one member who can be entrusted with sharing design work, and one veteran designer who has been involved with Number Nine since its founding as an advisor.
The senior designer can implement a wide range of designs, including web design, graphic design, and UI/UX design, at a high level, so you can expect an improvement in the design level.
As a design team, we still have a lot of inexperience, but this position is suitable for those who want to not only develop their current skills but also try new things.
◆Future career
We have introduced a mission grade system, and you can aim for a career as a generalist or specialist in each job type, taking into consideration your aptitude.
